The 8-Notes Gourd Piano otherwise known as the African Kalimba, Thumb Drum, Thumb Piano, Likembe and Mbira is one of the most well known African musical instruments.

There are several variations of this instrument to be found in various parts of the world.

Our Round Gourd Piano is beautifully crafted from a single piece of African Padauk placed atop a half gourd--metal keys are mounted on this padauk and gourd box which acts as a resonating chamber. The sound-holes on either side are an added bonus. They lend an even more interesting resonance to the sound of this drum. A leather string harness accented by colorful beads further enhances its beauty. Comes with a lovely card complete with play instructions and artist information.
