Janice and Ray Chesnick of
Chesnik Scopes were
among the first to popularize
the wheel scope. As partners
in the early 1980s, Janice and
her daughter Sheryl Koch
helped make kaleidoscope
history. Today, Janice's son
John Greene is the artist and
owner of Chesnik Scopes.
Janice Chesnik the company's
founder, still creates the
millefore glass pieces and the
front-surface mirror system of
each kaleidoscope.
Chesnik Scopes
make kaleidoscopes in brass
which is coated with a hard,
tarnish-free surface using
wood (mainly walnut) as an
accent. Each scope contains a
+ 250 strength magnifying
lens for a clear and sharp
image.
They have
earned a reputation as one of
the most dedicated and
organized kaleidoscope
company that exist. They are
widely respected by their
peers, retailers and collectors
alike for the professionalism
and and high standard of
craftsmanship they bring to
the art of kaliedoscope
making.
