Crosby & Taylor, formerly Tin
Woodsman Pewter Company
is based in Oregon.
In 1985, Jim and Deborah
Chapman along with a handful
of assistants ventured to
become the most well known
pewter artisans of American
Craft. Together, they brought
diverse backgrounds to the
company which has inspired
their lives and influenced their
designs.
Deborah
holds a Master's Degree in
French Literature from The
University of Oregon and Jim
graduated from Notre Dame
University's Great Books
Program. Deborah studied
abroad in Belgium, Turkey
and France. Jim volunteered
for the Peace Corps in
western Africa and worked for
three years in Venice, Italy,
as a writer, translator, and
guide. He later went on to
woodworking his--first
love and then made a
decision to dedicate his entire
time to Tin
Woodsman.
Today,
Jim who had entered the work
force a few years before his
wife, has retired to a life of
playing golf while Deborah
Chapman (full-time owner
and Presiding Officer) along
with her staff, designs and
makes beautiful pewter and
ceramic works of art. Their
handcrafted pewter
items are widely recognized
and sought by collectors as
well as those who desire such
items of art, function and
beauty.
